IMPORTANT QUESTIONS WE THINK YOU SHOULD ASK (and get straight answers) BEFORE USING ANY SKIN CARE RANGE, INCLUDING SKOON.

Q: Is SKOON. a natural skin care range?
A: Yes, very much so.

Q: How natural?
A: You don't have to guess.  Just check our packaging - the breakdown of all ingredients between Natural, Organic, Naturally Derived and Nature Identical is stated below the caption MADE WITH.

Q: What is the difference between Natural, Organic, Naturally Derived and Nature Identical?
A: Natural:-  From a natural, sustainable source and manufactured without the addition of any external compounds e.g. cold pressed oils, butters and botanical extracts.

Organic:-  Same as Natural but with valid organic certification e.g. cold pressed oils, butters, botanical extracts and beeswax.

Naturally Derived:-  From a natural and sustainable source, manufacturing includes manipulation and or the addition of (natural and, or synthetic) compound/s during the production process e.g behenyl alcohol.

Nature Identical:-  Found in nature but manufactured in a laboratory e.g. Niacinamide (Vitamin B3).

Q:Do you preserve your products? And if you do, what with?

A: If it contains water, yes, absolutely.

Unless stated as being PRESERVATIVE FREE all SKOON.'s products are preserved with a combination of two or three ingredients from the following group of natural, naturally derived preservatives:

Lactobacillus Ferment (Natural) - Probiotic-based ingredient created by the fermentation of Lactobacillus.
Zinc PCA (Natural) - mineral with broad spectrum antimicrobial activity.
Glyceryl Caprylate (Naturally Derived) - antimicrobial agent derived from 100 % natural resources.
Sodium Anisate (Naturally Derived) - salt with anti-fungal activity derived from P-anisic acid found in Anise or Fennel.

Glucose, Lactoperoxidase, Glucose Oxidase (Naturally Derived) - anti-bacterial system consisting of sugar (derived from corn) and lactoperoxidase enzymes (derived from whey protein).

Q: Are SKOON.s ingredients of a high quality?
A: Exceptionally.

We source our ingredients from all over the world to ensure we only work with top quality products.  A good example is our Vitamin A (Retinal). Imported from France, it costs the equivalent of a luxury German sedan per kilogram but so very worthwhile for all the phenomenal properties it adds to our formulations. The same can be said of every, single ingredient we use.

Q: Have the most appropriate amounts of each ingredient been employed in the formulation of a product to ensure maximum efficacy?
A: Yes.

SKOON. is proud to guarantee that we use the recommended dosages for all our actives. So proud we actually state the percentages of actives on our packaging.

I want to go natural but I don't want to lose the 'edge of science' in my products.
Neither do we.

Natural products have evolved far beyond the concept of applying 'beewax and apricot oil' to your skin. SKOON.s products are based on a combination of clinical studies, relevant research and potent natural actives.

Q: Has a high standard of manufacturing been observed?
A: Yes, we have our own in-house cosmetic chemist.  We have developed our own range and manufactures from our factory in Cape Town.

Q: Are any of your products or ingredients tested on animals?
A: NO!

None of our products are tested on animals. Nor will it ever be.

In addition, we also request Animal Declarations from all our raw ingredient suppliers to ensure we never use an ingredient that has been tested on animals during R&D.

(Thank you, Maggie, for bringing it to our attention that we haven't addressed this important issue in our FAQ.)
